Description
The Facility Maintenance Technician performs skilled and general maintenance work for City of La Marque facilities, including City Hall, police and fire facilities, library, public works buildings, parks, and other City-owned properties. This position is responsible for maintaining building systems, equipment, and structures to ensure facilities remain safe, operational, and well maintained. This position requires a versatile, hands-on technician capable of performing a wide range of maintenance tasks including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general facility repairs.
Examples of Duties
Facility Maintenance
- Perform general maintenance and repairs at City facilities and parks
- Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical components
- Perform carpentry, drywall, painting, and minor construction repairs
- Repair doors, windows, locks, fixtures, and other building components
- Maintain lighting systems and replace fixtures and bulbs
- Perform minor plumbing repairs including fixtures, valves, and leaks
- Assist with maintenance and repairs at parks, playgrounds, restrooms, pavilions, and other City-owned amenities
Preventative Maintenance and Inspections
- Conduct routine facility inspections
- Perform preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment
- Identify maintenance needs and recommend repairs or improvements
- Maintain maintenance records and work orders
Equipment and Contractor Coordination
- Coordinate with contractors for major repairs and specialized work
- Assist with project oversight for facility improvements
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials needed for facility maintenance
Emergency Response
- Respond to facility-related emergencies including HVAC failures, electrical issues, and water leaks
- Assist with storm preparation and recovery efforts
- Participate in after-hours emergency response as needed
Other Duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3–5 years of facility maintenance or related experience preferred
- Experience in municipal or commercial facility maintenance preferred
Licensing Requirements
- TDLR Licensed HVAC Technician OR Licensed Electrician required
- Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance preferred
